However, Clearlake likely holds the upper hand as it owns 61.5 per cent of the shares, with no plans made to sell any of them. The growing tension between Chelsea co-owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali seems to be escalating, with reports suggesting that both parties may be considering buying each other out. The ownership structure has become strained, with differences in management approach and future direction contributing to the discord.

The Guardian hints that Todd Boehly may be contemplating a strategic exit, though he is reportedly determined not to be ousted unwillingly. Boehly, who has taken a less visible role in the past 18 months while allowing Eghbali to lead more prominently, is said to recognize the current management situation at Chelsea as unsustainable.

There have been rumors that Boehly might raise £2.5 billion to acquire Clearlake Capital’s shares in the club. However, Clearlake Capital, which holds a 61.5% majority stake in Chelsea, does not appear to have any intention of selling. This gives Clearlake a significant advantage in any ownership struggle, making it less likely that Boehly could succeed without their cooperation.

The outcome of this power struggle could significantly impact Chelsea’s future direction, both on and off the pitch.
