VAR CONTROVERSY: The major reason why Manchester United F.C. player Amad Diallo was not awarded a penalty after Thomas Partey harsh tackle during Arsenal win vs Manchester United

Amad, the winger for Manchester United, found himself at the center of controversy during their match against Arsenal. Despite a tangle with Thomas Partey, which left him on the ground, no penalty was awarded to United.

Before the 20th minute, United was in control, but Arsenal seized the lead when Leandro Trossard capitalized on Kai Havertz’s cross. Amad, eager to level the score, made a promising run from the right wing but ended up on the turf.

Initially, it seemed like a penalty inside the box, but upon video review, doubts arose about its exact location. Referee Paul Tierney opted against awarding a penalty, a decision supported by VAR.

United felt aggrieved by the non-call, arguing that Amad was indeed fouled by Thomas Partey. Former Premier League referee Mike Dean weighed in, suggesting that Amad’s speed and agility led to inadvertent contact with Partey.

However, not everyone agreed. Pundit Gary Neville pointed out Partey’s positioning and raised leg, adding a layer of ambiguity to the incident.

Dean remained steadfast in his assessment, maintaining that the contact wasn’t significant enough to warrant a penalty. He emphasized Amad’s foot placement as a contributing factor.

Ultimately, the decision stood, with both Tierney and VAR concurring that it wasn’t a clear-cut penalty.
