Sevilla has recently welcomed another player from Manchester United to their team, and this time it’s not a temporary deal like Hannibal Mejbri’s loan.

Earlier this week, we learned that Hannibal Mejbri, a midfielder from Manchester United, signed a loan deal with Sevilla for the rest of the season. However, he chose not to participate in the Africa Cup of Nations to focus on his club career. This loan includes an option for Sevilla to buy him for £17.2 million.

Now, in just a few days, another player from Manchester United, 20-year-old Mateo Mejia, has made a permanent move to Sevilla. Mateo spent four and a half years with United, joining their academy in 2019 from Real Zaragoza. Despite facing some injuries, he became a regular player for the Under-21s, making 15 appearances and scoring against teams like Arsenal and Leicester City last season.

Mateo, who has the option to represent Colombia through his parents, also had the chance to travel to the United States with United’s youth squad last summer, playing in a friendly against Wrexham. He trained with Erik ten Hag’s first team and had a notable performance this season with the Under-21s, playing 12 times and scoring three goals.

The club’s website expressed their best wishes for Mateo’s future and mentioned that they will be following his career with great interest.

Hannibal Mejbri, who recently joined Sevilla on loan, shared his thoughts on the move. He expressed his liking for Sevilla’s project and believes he can contribute to the team’s improvement. Hannibal mentioned his readiness to play, having participated in eleven games this season and trained hard in Manchester. He emphasized his versatility, willing to play in various positions but expressing a preference for the center of the field.

In his words: “I think I can help in any position. As a footballer, the most important thing for me is to play. I can play in any position, although I have to say my preference would be like 8 or like 10, in the centre of the field. In any case, I am happy if I am on the field. I think I can help in defence and attack. Everyone likes to score and assist, but the most important thing is to play as a team, defend and attack as a team.”
